The Member of Parliament for Bantama Constituency, Hon. Francis Asenso-Boakye, has paid glowing tribute to the late Mrs. Agnes Afriyie Amankwah, describing her as a transformational leader whose legacy continues to shape the Methodist Church Ghana.
Hon. Asenso-Boakye delivered the tribute when he addressed congregants at the historic Wesley Cathedral, Adum, during a special service commemorating 25 years in memory of Mrs. Amankwah.

The event was organised by the Kumasi Diocese alongside the Susanna Wesley Mission Auxiliary.
Mrs. Agnes Afriyie Amankwah was the first Connexional President of the Susanna Wesley Mission Auxiliary and is recognised as a pioneering force in the Church’s women’s ministry.
Drawing from Hebrews 13:7, the Bantama MP urged Christians to go beyond ceremonial remembrance by living out the values exemplified by past leaders.

He emphasised that true honour lies in continuing the faith, discipline, and service demonstrated by those who laid the Church’s foundations.

He noted that Mrs. Amankwah’s influence extended far beyond her official role, stating that she established a movement whose impact remains evident across generations within the Methodist Church.
Hon. Asenso-Boakye further expressed inspiration at seeing the continuation of Mrs. Amankwah’s legacy through the active participation and leadership of women in the Church today.
He specifically acknowledged the contributions of his wife, Juliet, and his mother-in-law, Grace, as reflections of the enduring spirit of the women’s ministry.
According to him, a life committed to Christ leaves an everlasting imprint, adding that such devotion does not end with death but continues to multiply through others.
The commemorative service brought together church leaders, clergy, and members from across the Kumasi Diocese to honour the life and enduring legacy of Mrs. Agnes Afriyie Amankwah.
