Nana Nana Adu Gyamfi Kumanini Barimah Kese, the Nkosuohene of Nyankyerenease, has issued a stern warning to aspirants contesting the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) 2028 flagbearer slot, cautioning them against plunging Ghana into violence ahead of the party’s primaries scheduled for January 31, 2026.

Addressing a press briefing on Wednesday at the forecourt of Kumasi-based Lawson TV, the traditional leader said he had been divinely instructed to confront political leaders and the youth over what he described as dangerous signals of violence emerging ahead of the primaries.

“If you truly love Ghana, then lay down your guns, cutlasses, and weapons,” he declared, warning that the reckless pursuit of power could destroy the very nation political leaders claim to serve.
Nana Barimah Kese accused political actors of abandoning the original purpose of leadership, the protection of the vulnerable and questioned why the country appears to be “falling apart” despite endless struggles for power.

He stressed that political ambition must never be pursued through bloodshed.
Turning his attention to the youth, machomen, and party task forces, the Nkosuohene warned them not to sell their conscience for money or allow themselves to be used as tools of violence.

He said he senses “great danger” surrounding the upcoming primaries and urged young people across the country to resist political manipulation.
As part of an aggressive nationwide peace campaign, Nana Barimah Kese said he will travel across Ghana to confront political leaders, party supporters, and the youth with what he described as a non-negotiable message of peace.

He concluded by calling on Ghanaians to take the warning seriously, stressing that the country is at a critical moment and that failure to act responsibly could have grave consequences for national peace and democracy.
