On 18th March, 2024, the National Service Scheme (NSS) joined forces with the World Food Programme (WFP) under the transformative “Deployment for Employment” initiative.

This strategic collaboration aims to strengthen Ghana’s agricultural prospects while reducing the unemployment burden on the government.

During the official signing ceremony, the Chief Executive for the Scheme, Hon. Osei Assibey highlighted NSS’s remarkable achievements, including the Kumawu farms, which cover over 20,000 acres of land and provide produce to meet the nation’s market demand.

“This partnership is not just about signing documents; it’s about experiential learning, fostering national development, and empowering our graduates to embrace agriculture as a path to prosperity”, he told www.leakyghana.com.

“I extend my heartfelt gratitude to Barbara Clemens, the Country Director of WFP Ghana, for her instrumental role in making this collaboration a reality.

I also want to acknowledge the invaluable contribution of the Mastercard Foundation in facilitating this partnership, highlighting the importance of collaborative efforts in advancing Ghana’s agricultural sector.

Together with WFP and other stakeholders, we aim to empower a new generation of agri-entrepreneurs, drive economic growth, and ensure food security for the next generations.

As we embark on this journey towards agricultural transformation, let’s celebrate proactive partnerships and collective action. Together, we can unlock new opportunities and forge a brighter future for Ghana’s agricultural sector”.
