Christmas came early and in grand style at the Kumasi Central Prison as the Member of Parliament for Subin Constituency, Lawyer Kofi Obiri Yeboah, turned the facility into a centre of joy by feeding close to 2,000 inmates in a powerful show of love, compassion, and inclusion.

The historic gesture took place on Thursday, December 25, 2025, barely 24 hours after the MP dazzled more than 900 New Patriotic Party (NPP) delegates in the Subin Constituency with generous Christmas packages, making his festive outreach one of the most talked-about in the region.

Inmates were treated to a sumptuous serving of waakye, Ghana’s beloved local delicacy, lavishly garnished with egg, meat, vegetables, gari, and pasta.

The atmosphere was electrifying as inmates beamed with smiles, showered the MP with heartfelt praises, and savoured what many described as a “Christmas meal to remember.”

Lawyer Kofi Obiri Yeboah was warmly received on arrival by Ing. James B. Mwinyelle, the Ashanti Regional Commander of Prisons and Officer-in-Charge of the Kumasi Central Prison.

Addressing prison officials in a meeting, the MP explained that his mission was simple but profound; to dine with the inmates and celebrate Christmas together as one family.

“This is to remind them that society has not abandoned them,” the MP stated, emphasizing that his annual visit is meant to inspire hope, restore dignity, and reassure inmates that they still matter.

He stressed that Christmas is a season of love, and no one should be left out, even behind prison walls.

The Subin MP further revealed that he has adopted the Kumasi Central Prison and remains committed to supporting the welfare of inmates, promising continuous engagement and assistance beyond festive occasions.

He expressed deep appreciation to the prison officers for their unwavering cooperation, which he said has made the annual feeding exercise a success.
