Her Excellency Professor Dora Francisca Edu-Buandoh, High Commissioner of Ghana to Canada, has concluded a landmark engagement at the Africa Agriculture, Trade & Investment Summit (AATIS) Canada 2025, setting a clear path for actionable partnerships between Canadian investors, the Ghanaian diaspora, and Ghana’s agribusiness sector.

Held at Humber Polytechnic University, the summit brought together Ghanaian-Canadian stakeholders, Canadian investors, and representatives from the Ghanaian Mission to define concrete opportunities for collaboration.

Speaking at both the opening and closing of the summit, H.E. Prof. Edu-Buandoh emphasized the importance of translating interest into tangible projects. “Our focus is on moving from dialogue to delivery,” she said, highlighting the summit’s role in providing clarity on Ghana’s investment environment and policies.

Key discussions centered on high-potential sectors such as cassava processing, starch production, and integrated commercial farming, with practical guidance on cost structures, scalability, and market demand.

Summit host Mr. Evans Kyere Mensah stressed the diaspora’s financial and strategic role, noting that remittances are not only a reflection of confidence in Ghana’s economy but also a powerful tool for agro-industrial growth.

The summit also showcased Ghana’s investor-friendly framework, including:
Incentives: Free Zone benefits, tax exemptions, and import duty relief for agricultural machinery.

Market Access: Gateway to ECOWAS and the AfCFTA, providing access to 1.3 billion consumers.

Policy Alignment: Direct links to national programmes like Feed Ghana and the Big Push industrialization agenda, ensuring projects contribute to national priorities.

To sustain progress, the High Commission announced follow-up initiatives, including a webinar with the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre and a business roundtable in Canada to connect investors with vetted projects.

The summit concluded with the High Commissioner engaging directly with the diaspora at the Okuapemman Cultural Association of Ontario Annual Dinner and Dance, underscoring the Mission’s commitment to the diaspora as a vital partner in Ghana’s development journey.

This approach positions AATIS Canada 2025 not just as a forum for discussion, but as a catalyst for measurable impact, leveraging diaspora networks and Canadian investment to drive Ghana’s agricultural and economic transformation.
