Aputuogya has been thrust into the commercial spotlight as a newly commissioned market cluster positions the community to lead the Bosomtwe District’s 24-hour economy agenda.

The modern market facility, commissioned on Tuesday by the Bosomtwe District Assembly, is expected to transform trading activities in the area by bringing commerce closer to residents and ending years of congestion caused by roadside trading.

Traders who previously lined the streets of Aputuogya, often bringing traffic to a standstill are now set to move into the well-structured market space.

Addressing a charged gathering of chiefs, traders, and residents, the District Chief Executive, Hon. Engr. Abdullah Hamidu, declared the Aputuogya market cluster a frontrunner in the district’s 24-hour economy drive, despite Kuntenase being the district capital.

He assured that the market would be supported with round-the-clock security, making it safe for traders and buyers to operate day and night.

The DCE further announced plans to provide a health centre, fire service personnel, and lorry stations at the market to boost safety, accessibility, and commercial activity.

The commissioning ceremony drew a massive crowd, including traditional authorities, Assembly staff, and residents, reflecting the high expectations surrounding the project.

Describing the moment as historic, the Chief of Aputuogya, Okofonini Sakyi Kwaakye Agyemang II, said the market’s completion marked one of the proudest achievements of his leadership.

He noted that the unregulated roadside trading that plagued the community for years had been a major concern, but expressed confidence that the new facility would finally bring relief.

While commending the Assembly and all partners involved, the Chief appealed for the establishment of a police station and a hospital to match the growing economic importance of the community.
