The Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) has held its annual thanksgiving service and city-wide worship concert, dubbed “Accra Worships”, bringing together staff, residents and invited guests in an all-white gathering to offer praise and prayers for the peace, progress and development of the capital ahead of the Christmas season.
Held at the forecourt of the AMA City Hall under the theme “Counting Our Blessings in Worship,” the service blended music, scripture and intercession, providing a platform for thanksgiving, reflection and prayer for Accra and the nation.
The worship concert featured song ministrations by Terry Johnson, a Ga praise and worship minister, Rebecca Yella of the AMA, Ebenezer Addo, known on social media as “God Son,” and Gifty Nyiraba, who travelled from Kumasi for the programme.
A sermon delivered by Rev. Fr. Thomas Wilson Jacobs urged worshippers to remain thankful and steadfast in faith and to uphold values that strengthen unity and responsible living in the metropolis, particularly during the festive period when commercial activity and movement in the city intensify.
In his address, the Mayor of Accra, Hon. Michael Kpakpo Allotey described the event as both a public thanksgiving and a personal testimony, saying the Assembly’s progress had been sustained by God’s guidance.
He expressed appreciation to President John Dramani Mahama for appointing him Mayor and pledged to work in a manner that would justify the confidence placed in him.
