Accusations are flying within the New Patriotic Party (NPP) after former District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF) Administrator, Naa Torshie, held a press conference claiming she is being unfairly targeted.

In response, Hon. Kwame Osei Bampoe, Assembly Member for Aprade-Mesewamu, directly linked her tenure to widespread administrative failures that affected local development and may have contributed to the NPP’s poor showing in the 2024 elections.

Funds Delayed, Projects Stalled
Osei Bampoe highlighted serious delays in the release of the Common Fund from 2021 to 2024, saying:

- Many MMDAs could not implement essential projects.
- Roads, markets, schools, health centres, and drains remained incomplete.
- Contracting processes were centralized, with local communities sidelined.
He argued that these failures left communities frustrated and diminished confidence in both local authorities and the ruling party.
Electoral Fallout
“The consequences of mismanagement at the Common Fund Secretariat were felt at the ballot box,” Osei Bampoe said. He emphasized that grassroots support for the NPP suffered because local leaders could not deliver visible development to their constituents.
According to him, blaming party politics or external actors does not erase the fact that communities were “left to struggle with empty promises.”
Call for Reform and Accountability
Osei Bampoe urged the NPP to focus on strengthening local governance, restoring trust at the grassroots, and ensuring future administrators are held accountable.
“Ghanaians are tired of excuses. They deserve leaders who empower communities, not ones whose decisions leave them behind,” he said.
This exchange marks the latest tension in NPP ranks, as internal accountability debates intersect with reflections on recent electoral setbacks.
