Upper East Region residents will soon benefit from improved access to Ghanaian passport services, as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration formally opens a new Passport Application Centre (PAC) in Bolgatanga on 23 October 2025.

The announcement was made by the Minister, Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, on his official Facebook page and corroborated via other government releases.

The new centre forms part of government’s nationwide initiative to ensure every region in Ghana has a functional passport application centre by December 2025.
The Bolgatanga’s facility would open in October, signalling the end of the long travel burdens faced by applicants in the Upper East Region who had to journey to Tamale, Accra or other distant centres.

The reforms in the passport service go beyond just the regional expansion. They include a 24‑hour operational model for passport services, a home‑delivery system for issued passports, and the introduction of same‑day issuance for urgent cases.
