The Minister for Communication, Digital Technology, and Innovations, Hon. Samuel Nartey George (MP), has announced comprehensive plans to expand digital infrastructure across the Dagbon Kingdom.

This initiative forms part of the government’s wider strategy to boost nationwide connectivity and promote digital inclusion.

The announcement was made during a courtesy visit to the Overlord of Dagbon, His Royal Majesty Yaa Naa Abukari Mahama II, at his residence in Accra earlier today.
As part of the initiative, Hon. George revealed that the Ministry, through the Ghana Investment Fund for Electronic Communications (GIFEC), will roll out new rural telephony sites within the Dagbon traditional area. These sites are expected to enhance communication networks and support local economic activities.

In addition, the Minister disclosed plans to establish computer centres in multiple communities across the region under the “One Million Coder Project,” an initiative by H.E. President John Dramani Mahama. The project aims to equip young Ghanaians with digital skills and foster innovation.
“There’s a lot in store for Dagbon from the Ministry of Communication,” Hon. George affirmed, emphasizing the government’s commitment to ensuring that digital opportunities reach every corner of the country.
In response, His Royal Majesty Yaa Naa Abukari Mahama II welcomed the plans with enthusiasm and praised the Minister for his dedication to national development. He offered prayers for Hon. George, asking for divine wisdom and strength to support him in his role.
The Minister expressed his appreciation for the blessings and reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to collaborating with traditional leaders to fulfil the digital development goals of the Dagbon Kingdom.
