In a significant move to promote women’s health, The CK Mensah Foundation organized a one-day free breast cancer screening exercise for women in Abuakwa, located in the Atwima Nwabiagya South District of the Ashanti Region.

The initiative, held on Saturday, October 11, 2025, coincided with the global observance of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

The event saw a strong turnout, particularly among market women and female traders in the area, reflecting the community’s growing awareness of health issues and the trust placed in the Foundation’s work.

In addition to breast cancer screening, participants also received free checks for blood pressure, blood sugar levels, and other vital health indicators.

The charity event is held under the motto “Donation for Humanity”.

It also offered beneficiaries free NHIS registration, free distribution of The CK Mensah branded aprons, and more.

This health outreach forms part of The CK Mensah Foundation’s broader mission to uplift underserved communities through impactful healthcare, education, and social support initiatives.

By offering preventative screening and early detection services, the Foundation aims to reduce the burden of chronic diseases and empower individuals to take charge of their well-being.

Speaking to reporters at the event, Mr. Courage Kwame Mensah, Founder and Chairman of the Foundation, emphasized the importance of taking health services directly to the people, especially women during such critical awareness campaigns.

“October is globally recognized as Breast Cancer Awareness Month. As someone who hails from this district, I felt it was vital to bring this initiative home,” he said. “This is about saving lives through awareness, early detection, and access to care.”

Mr. Mensah also highlighted the Foundation’s consistent efforts over the past two years, including similar health initiatives across the Greater Accra, Eastern Region, and beyond.

In addition to healthcare, the Foundation continues to invest in academic support programs, clean water projects, and other social development efforts.

He further urged women to routinely check their breast health, noting that while breast cancer infection rates may not be the highest among diseases in Ghana, early detection remains key to effective treatment and survival.

“Don’t wait for symptoms to appear. Regular check-ups can make all the difference,” he added.

Grace Nyarko, a local market trader and participant in the screening, expressed her gratitude to the Foundation:

“This screening has been a blessing. Many of us would not have had the chance to get checked otherwise. We now know our health status, and that gives us peace of mind.”

She also called on the Foundation to extend such programs to other communities within the district, recognizing the profound impact the exercise has had in Abuakwa.
