MTN Ghana is reaffirming its commitment to inclusive and sustainable digital growth through stronger partnerships with Civil Society Organizations (CSOs).

At a high-level stakeholder forum held on Wednesday, September 10, 2025, at its Head Office in Accra, MTN Ghana brought together representatives from diverse CSOs to engage in a meaningful dialogue around connectivity, sustainability, and digital inclusion.

This engagement forms part of MTN’s broader stakeholder strategy, focused on building trust, transparency, and collaborative solutions in the evolving digital landscape.

Speaking at the forum, Adwoa Wiafe, Chief Corporate Services and Sustainability Officer (CCSSO) of MTN Ghana, emphasized the growing interdependence between the telecom sector and broader societal development.
“We are no longer just a network provider. We are at the center of every sector’s digital transformation. It is therefore crucial that our growth is inclusive, responsible, and shaped by voices beyond our industry,” she said.

Ms. Wiafe outlined ongoing sustainability efforts including MTN’s shift toward renewable energy — with over 50% of its operations now powered by green energy — and internal environmental reforms like the elimination of plastic bottles in all offices.
On the technical front, Reuben Opata, Chief Technical Officer, provided insights into the infrastructure investments underpinning MTN’s service delivery. He highlighted a significant $1 billion investment in Ghana’s network infrastructure and pointed to persistent challenges like fiber cuts, which have cost the company $22 million in repairs this year alone.
“Reliable connectivity doesn’t happen by accident — it’s the result of deliberate and sustained investment. But we need collaboration to protect these investments and ensure service continuity,” he said.
The forum also featured perspectives from Georgina Asare Fiagbenu, Senior Manager for Corporate Communications, who stressed the importance of ongoing dialogue with stakeholders as a pathway to co-creating impactful digital solutions.
Participants welcomed the initiative, commending MTN for its openness while also urging the company to address persistent concerns such as Mobile Money fraud, service affordability, digital accessibility for persons with disabilities, and more inclusive customer support.
The interactive session provided a platform for CSOs to share grassroots insights, propose solutions, and hold the company accountable in areas that directly impact underserved communities.
Also in attendance were Mr. Samuel Bartels, Senior Manager for Regulatory and Government Affairs, and other members of the Corporate Communications and External Affairs teams.
This latest forum signals MTN Ghana’s evolving approach to corporate responsibility — one that centers dialogue, shared value, and inclusive progress in building a digitally connected Ghana.
