Officials of MTN Ghana- Northern Business District have given start-up tools to 12 youth who have successfully completed 3 weeks training in mobile phone repairs at Nyinahini, of the Atwima Mponua District.

The tools included multimeter, precision screwdrivers, plus other equipment needed for mobile phone repairs.

They were presented to them when officials of Africa’s largest mobile network operator visited their Data Center at Nyinahini on Friday, 20th June, 2025.

Training

It covered areas, including IC fault fixing, screen fixing, charging fault fixing, speaker/sound fixing, network fault fixing, iCloud bypass, SIM unlocking, decoding, iCloud removal, and FRP/Google lock removal.

It formed part of activities captured under the 2025 edition of 21 Days of Y’ello Care; a flagship employee volunteerism campaign, which took place from 1-21 June, 2025.

Theme for this year’s edition, “Connecting at the Roots – Connecting communities through the use of digital tools,” responds to the ongoing challenge of digital exclusion, particularly in rural, remote, and underserved areas.

Giving of Start-up tools

Provision of the start-up tools to the beneficiaries is a way of resourcing them to be able to start their own business with the skills acquired and pass on the knowledge to others.

Certificate of completion was also awarded to each beneficiary.

Charles Osei Akoto, Head of Technical-MTN Northern Business District applauded the trainees for the excellent performance showcased during the training.

He admonished them to continue upgrading their knowledge, especially at a time when formal employment opportunities are declining due to advancements in artificial intelligence.

In an interview with newsmen, Peter Armah Bonsu on behalf of the beneficiaries thanked officials of MTN Ghana for the support.

Labelling the program as very impactful, he said before the training, he was ignorant of basic tips on mobile phone repairs.

“We appreciate this support and we pray and hope for its extension to other communities”, he pleaded.
