King Salman Humanitarian AID and Relief Centre (KSrelief) of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has commenced distribution of 5,000 food baskets to vulnerable Muslim families in Ghana.
It began on Friday, 21st February, 2025.
Each beneficiary will receive a carefully prepared food basket containing essential supplies to sustain them during the upcoming Ramadan.
Each basket include 25kg of rice, 24 kg of maize, 4 kg of beans, 2 litres of vegetable oil and 0.8 kg of Maggi cubes.
Distribution is done by officials of a local implementing organisation called Markaz Aleawn Alyaquin Humanitarian Service.
3,000 will be distributed in Ashanti region alone, 1000 in Greater Accra Region, whereas the reminder will be spread across the northern parts of Ghana.
The official launch of this year’s distribution was held on Friday in Kumasi at the Prempeh Assembly Hall.
Gracing the occasion were; Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to Ghana, Sultan Abdulrahman Al-Dakhel, former Chief Executive of Obuasi Municipal Assembly Mr. Ofori Agyeman Boadi (Representative of the Ashanti Regional Minister Dr. Frank Amoakohene), distinguished representatives of the King Salam Humanitarian AID and Relief Center (KSrelief) among other respected community leaders.
In his address, the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia said the initiative expresses the extent the Humanitarian and social efforts the Center has made.
He thanked President of Ghana, His Excellency John Dramani Mahama for the level of cooperation and support offered to the Saudi Embassy in Ghana and to the King Salman Center for Relief and Humanitarian Action.
The ambassador also extended his blessings on the approaching holy month Ramadan to all Muslims, asking the Almighty Allah to make it a month of goodness and blessings for everyone.
Addressing the media after the launch, the Executive Director for Markaz Aleawn Alyaquin Humanitarian Service, Ishmael Mohammed Kamel thanked the Center “for their continued trust in our organisation. This unwavering support has enabled us to reach the most vulnerable members of our communities, ensuring that no family is left behind during this sacred time of fasting and devotion.”
Aside the food basket project, he acknowledged KSrelief’s tremendous Humanitarian efforts in Ghana.
He said last year alone, KSrelief successfully constructed 52 solar-powered boreholes across various regions, providing clean and safe drinking water to thousands of people.
This year, an additional 14 boreholes are currently under construction including 9 hand-pump boreholes and 5 solar-powered boreholes.
These initiatives are a testament to KSrelief’s enduring commitment to improving the lives of Ghanaians through sustainable and impactful projects.
