Former Chairman of the National Peace Council, Most Rev. Professor Emmanuel Asante has reprimanded persons wishing coup d’état happened in Ghana.
He has informed them to shut up, saying that such individuals do not know the ramifications of coup d’état.
Speaking on the first day of the 2024 edition of Transformation Conference held in Kumasi on 25th-27th September, 2024, he admonished members of the various political parties to be clean in their campaign comments.
“Stop talking violence…You wouldn’t like it…We need to be careful of the way we talk”.
According to Most Rev. Professor Emmanuel Asante, politics is not intended to create confusion.
Owing to Ghana’s practice of a multi party democracy, he said politicians and for that matter the citizenry have to exercise tolerance for each other.
In his address, he recalled one of his visits to Sierra Leone, recounting how the consequences of war has rendered a great number of youth in the country beggars on the street.
“For God’s sake don’t wish for violence in Ghana”, he told politicians.
