The first phase of a legacy project at Yaa Asantewaa Senior High School; an initiative of the 2004 year group of old students has been completed.
It comprised a mini garden, painting and beautification works at the main entrance of the school.
An amount of GHs 197,417 was spent on the first phase by the alumni; a money they acquired through joint contribution by members.
The project was commissioned and handed over to authorities of the school on Saturday, 30th November, 2024 to crown the celebration of the 20th anniversary of the year group which happened same day.
Addressing newsmen, the Vice Chairperson for the legacy project commitee, Madam Honorata Nsomah Akanzinge said the year group settled on enhancing the beauty of the main entrance after realizing it was not appealing enough.
She announced that, the second and third phase of the project will cover renovation of a monumental fountain situated few distance away from the entrance and the administration block of the school respectively.
Honorata said as old students, its incumbent on them to give back to their alma mater to reciprocate the academic impact they recieved when they were students.
She said the level of discipline and excellent training they gained are what has made them who they are today.
Honorata Nsomah Akanzinge therefore appealed to individuals and corporate institutions to support them in cash and kind as they give back to Yaa Asantewaa Girls Senior High School.
Headmistress Felicia Asamoah Danquah thanked the old students for the support.
She remarked that, the gesture by the 2004 year group has gone beyond what they anticipated.
According to her, the entrance now stands unique among that of many schools in Ashanti region.
